Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Job Description

A manufacturing and heavy industry company in Jamshedpur requires a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to oversee plant machinery maintenance, breakdown management and preventive maintenance schedules. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programmes for plant machinery
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical breakdowns to minimise production downtime
  • Maintain maintenance records, spare parts inventory and equipment history cards
  • Coordinate with production, quality and procurement teams for planned shutdowns
  • Supervise maintenance contractors and vendors during repairs and overhauls
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during maintenance activities
  • Prepare reports on maintenance performance and equipment reliability metrics

Required Skills & Qualifications

Preventive and breakdown maintenance of heavy industrial machineryKnowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systemsRotating equipment maintenance (pumps, compressors, gearboxes)Root cause analysis and problem-solvingFamiliarity with CMMS or maintenance planning toolsSafety systems and permit-to-work procedures

Educational Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering; Diploma considered for senior experienced candidates
